If you don't have a ticket for tonight's NBA Finals Game 3 between the Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, don't even think about going near Madison Square Garden.

The streets around “The World’s Most Famous Arena” will be completely sealed off to anyone without a game ticket, The increased security means any Knicks watch parties outside of Madison Square Garden are canceled for Monday night; on Monday morning, the city added a substitute watch party for Game 3 at Bryant Park for up to 5,000 fans.
“There will unfortunately be no watch party outside of Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the finals, and no access to the immediate vicinity of MSG without an authorized reason to be there,” said Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch during the briefing at One Police Plaza, which also featured Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service New York Field Office Matt McCool. According to Tisch, the NYPD will establish a security perimeter running from West 30th to West 35th Streets, between 6th and 8th Avenues.
Seventh and Eighth Avenues will be closed to both traffic and pedestrians beginning at 4 p.m. Monday.
“If you have reason to be in the secure area, you can enter at one of five designated entry points where that screening will occur. Those entry points will be located on the west side of Sixth Avenue at West 32nd Street, the west side of Sixth Avenue at West 33rd Street, the northeast corner of West 29th Street and Seventh Avenue, the northeast corner of West 30th Street and Eighth Avenue,” Tisch said.
Meanwhile, McCool said that fans attending the game should expect an extremely large police presence and security procedures akin to those of an airport.
“All attendees will pass through TSA-style magnetometer screening before entering the arena. I strongly encourage fans to arrive at MSG at least two hours before tip-off. There is a strict no-bag policy in place, and there will be no storage for prohibited items outside the venue,” McCool said.
“In addition to personnel, our security posture combines drones as well as advanced counter drone technology, protective intelligence, specialized tactical teams, and operational resources that allow us to identify and address potential threats while maintaining a welcoming environment for fans from the ground to the sky. ” While the watch party outside of Madison Square Garden has been canceled, Mayor Zohran Mamdani has set up several in its place at Bryant Park and Wollman Rink.
While authorities say the celebrations have been canceled due to the presidential visit, Tisch declared that they will return to Madison Square Garden for the next game.
