The Rockets closed the year with three consecutive losses, and eight losses in their last...
New York Knicks forward Julius Randle has his rebound broken up by Houston Rockets forward Bruno Fernando during the first half of an NBA basketball game Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, in Houston. The Rockets’ last game of 2022 began on a high note and ended on a familiarly sour one. The Rockets played a lackluster final three quarters and lost to the Knicks, 108-88, on Saturday night at Toyota Center.
By the fourth quarter, the Rockets were playing mostly bench guys and counting down to the end while waiting for the ball — Knicks shots — to drop. A flurry of Knicks 3-pointers saw the Rockets trailing by 10 points seven minutes into the second half. The Rockets never got closer than within seven points again, even after the starters returned to the floor with four minutes remaining.
