I've spent the past 25 years writing about the world of home entertainment technology--first at Home Cinema Choice magazine, where I became Deputy Editor, and for the past 20 years on a freelance basis.
While soundbars are a brilliantly convenient way of upgrading on the sound quality of your TV’s built in speakers, they aren’t typically particularly good at optimising their sound to suit the different room set ups and seating positions our endlessly varied living room designs throw at them.
Cue the Klipsch Flexus Core 300. This new soundbar, designed in partnership with Onkyo, is the first in the world to be equipped with and licensed for Dirac Live Room Correction Technology: A premium sound adaptation system previously associated only with high-end home theater audio separates that’s capable of correcting for both the magnitude and the phase of the entire sound system and listening space.
As you’d hope of a soundbar that comes in as the flagship of Klipsch’s Flexus soundbar series, the Flexus Core 300 is able to put its myriad channels to use on both DTS:X and Dolby Atmos soundtracks, and features premium build-quality and styling that includes rounded vertical edges for a softer living room friendly appearance, as well as wood grain-textured vinyl top panels accented by metal grilles and cloth-wrapped front and sides.
While the Flexus Core 300 ships as a single bar solution, it can be partnered with external Flexus subwoofer and rear speaker options. These options now include the also brand new Flexus Surround 200 wireless rear speakers and Sub 200 Wireless subwoofer, the former of which incorporate extra up-firing speakers, and the latter of which bring a massive 12-inch high-excursion woofer to the home cinema party.
The Flexus Core 300, Flexus Surround 200 and Flexus Sub 200 are all set to launch this winter in the US, priced at $999, $399 and $499 respectively. Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations. We want our readers to share their views and exchange ideas and facts in a safe space.
