After leaving the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, the New Braunfels High School alumnus will serve as an offensive analyst for the NCAA's Trojans.

Then-Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury appears during a 2023 game. Kingsbury, born in San Antonio and raised in New Braunfels, joins Lincoln Riley's USC Trojans staff.35-40 as head coach of college football's Texas Tech Red Raiders before graduating to the NFL. Against Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners, Kingsbury went 0-2, losing by a combined 100-73.

Now, Kingsbury will coach under Riley for the University of Southern California Trojans. Riley announced the hiring on Tuesday. Kingsbury will serve as an offensive analyst. Most recently, Kingsbury was head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, where he went 28-37-1 in four seasons, making the playoffs just once.

Kingsbury, born in San Antonio on Aug. 9, 1979, grew up in New Braunfels and played his high school football for New Braunfels High School. Before serving as head coach at the school, Kingsbury also played his college football at Texas Tech, where he and Riley were teammates for a short time in 2002.

Kingsbury was one of five New Braunfels alumni to play in the NFL, as Kingsbury was drafted in the sixth round by the New England Patriots in 2003. Kingsbury appeared in just one game in 2005 for the New York Jets, attempting two passes and throwing for 17 yards. For one month in 2019, before being hired by the Cardinals, Kingsbury served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for USC. In his college tenure, Kingsbury notably coached several big-name quarterbacks, including Patrick Mahomes, Johnny Manziel, Kyler Murray and Case Keenum.
