SPRING — The Woodlands had been scoring at will the past six games coming into Thursday’s Game 1 Region II-6A area round contest at Klein Collins.The runs didn’t come against the Tigers and one big inning broke the winning streak at 14 games, too.
Both big hits were set up by walks. Devyn Davenport scored on the two-run homer and Daniela Gutierrez drew the free pass and ended up as Quiroga’s RBI. “She had a great performance out there,” The Woodlands coach Tim Borths said. “Just one inning we let it get away a little bit. It was the heart of their order and credit to Collins for hunting their pitches and making us pay for those walks is the deal.”Alannah Leach opened scoring for the Highlanders in the top of the third inning.
