Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Number One begins season 2 facing a court-martial, something both Spock and Captain James T. Kirk faced in Star Trek: The Original Series season 1. As the two most famous Star Trek characters, Kirk and Spock have gone up against their fair share of difficulties. While they saved the galaxy multiple times over the course of TOS, they were not always in Starfleet's good graces.
Why Spock Was Court-Martialed In Star Trek: TOS In the two-part episode of Star Trek: The Original Series called "The Menagerie," Spock gets court-martialed for commandeering the USS Enterprise and taking it to Talos IV. Starfleet General Order 7 forbade any ship from visiting Talos IV and was the only Starfleet regulation to carry the death penalty. Traveling to Talos IV had been banned since the Enterprise first visited there several years before under the command of Captain Pike.
