Kinsey Loan took the title today at the Gold Nugget, Alaska’s all-women’s triathlon. Nearly 1,300 women and girls competed.

Kinsey Loan was the first competitor to finish the Gold Nugget Triathlon on Sunday, May 15, 2022.

“She was running faster,” Sheryl Loan said. “She swam on the swim team when she was in grade school. Her swim times were definitely good enough to keep her in the mix with the fast ladies. She’s always been a good biker. I can just tell going out on road runs with her, she’s really crushing the runs. Of the three that’s been the weakest link.”

“If you look at how many mother-daughter teams there are, it’s just amazing,” Kinsey Loan said. “I just think it’s so cool. I don’t know how many times I’ve done it, but I’ve done it with my mom every year. There are even some teams with three generations. I just love it.” Gold Nugget Triathlon competiors Katelyn Stearns, right, who was the second athlete to cross the finish line embraces Kinsey Loan who crossed the finish line first at Pena Park on Sunday, May 15, 2022.

While Loan took home the win, the biggest celebration of the day may have come when Kristina Eaton McAuliffe crossed the finish line in 57th.
