South Staffordshire Council’s planning committee approve the energy plant that can power 26,000 houses.

Plans for a new battery energy storage plant next to a substation have been given the go-ahead, despite objections from residents and councillors.

Local MP Mike Wood and four Dudley councillors are among those who objected to the plans on Hinksford Lane near Kingswinford, amid concerns around fire risk and its impact on wildlife.had been received, with Swindon Parish Council also stating the development should be refused as it would have a major impact on the openness of the green belt land.

He raised concerns about the risks to people living at a nearby mobile home park if there was a fire at the storage site. Applicant Daniel Levy said the site had been "carefully selected" due to its proximity to the substation.
