Kopitar, who won the award following the 2015-16 season and was a finalist in 2014-15, joins New Jersey’s Jack Hughes and Tampa Bay’s Brayden Point as finalists.

Kings captain Anze Kopitar has been named a finalist for the Lady Byng Trophy, the NHL’s award for the “player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.”

Should Kopitar capture the honor, he would become the fourth different player to win the award while competing for the Kings and just the second multiple-time honoree. Wayne Gretzky won the award three times while skating in black and silver as part of five total Lady Byng Trophies in his career. Butch Goring also won the award with the Kings, as did Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne, who had won it previously with the Detroit Red Wings as well.
