Dr Ed Owens, royal historian and author of: “These early reports suggest the King has extended a personal invitation to the President of the United States for climate change talks.when he was Prince of Wales – that marks a decisive shift away from the style of constitutional monarchy embodied by Elizabeth II.
“His role is likely to change to being more of a facilitator of discussions and thereby keeping the topic in the public eye. “Today, as sovereign, he is Britain’s top green diplomat and able to promote the Government’s climate and nature agendas like no one else,” he said.
