A new image of King Charles III, 76, who is battling cancer, was released on Saturday. The photo shows the monarch looking regal in a tartan kilt, tie, and brown sporran. King Charles posed for the picture in the library at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland , last autumn. The striking photograph was taken by Millie Pilkington , a photographer who has captured numerous images of the Royal Family over the years.
The image was shared to commemorate Burns Night, a celebration of the life of Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns, observed annually on January 25th. The King's cancer diagnosis was revealed in January following a planned procedure to address a benign enlarged prostate. At the time, he expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support and well wishes. He acknowledged the comfort and encouragement such kindness provides, particularly for those who have experienced cancer. The King shared in his annual Christmas address that everyone endures some form of suffering throughout their lives, be it physical or mental.
