King Charles hosts world leaders including Joe Biden at VIP Buckingham Palace reception 🔴 Presidents, prime ministers and kings and queens from across the globe attended the event held at the palace’s state rooms
Senior royals including the Prince and Princess of Wales and Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, joined King Charles and the Queen Consort in mingling with guests, who included French leader Emmanuel Macron and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.Dozens of leaders of Commonwealth countries including Canadian premier Justin Trudeau and European royal family members attended the event, including the King of Spain Felipe VI and his wife Queen Letizia.
Also in attendance was Prime Minister Liz Truss, who earlier in the day had a reception at the palace with the King, and held talks with world leaders at No10 where they offered condolences over the Queen’s death. Guest enjoyed drinks and canapes at the reception, which took place across the palace’s picture gallery, white drawing room, blue drawing room and music room.
Many guests, who will be attending the monarch’s funeral, were seen arriving dressed in black as a mark of respect, while some donned traditional clothing native to their countries. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and President of Ireland Michael D Higgins were among those arriving on coaches.
