King Charles holds back tears as William pledges oath during emotional coronation ceremony
King Charles looked emotional as the Prince of Wales pledged his oath to the King during the coronation ceremony.Kneeling before the King, he said: “I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you and faith and truth I will bear unto you, as your liege man of life and limb. So help me God.”He then stood and kissed his father on the right cheek as the King looked on emotionally.
Prince WIlliam earlier put the ceremonial Robe of State on the King, which was carried into the venue by Prince George, 9. The Princess wore a dress by Alexander McQueen, who designed her wedding gown, which featured roses, thistles, daffodils and shamrocks in an ode to the four nations of the United Kingdom.
