The monarchy's biggest annual ceremony will go ahead, despite Britain's general election, according to the army.
King Charles III will get the opportunity to present himself as a strong leader of the monarchy at the Trooping the Colour celebrations in London this June. The institution has been rocked by health issues and a political setback since the beginning of the year.In February, Charles announced that he was being treated for an undisclosed form of cancer. This was followed weeks later by daughter-in-law Princess Kate receiving a similar diagnosis.
For Charles, the ceremony offers an opportunity to be seen as the strong figurehead of the monarchy, despite still receiving treatment for cancer. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Newsweek that the monarch's participation would be 'especially significant' at this point in his reign.'The king clearly plans to attend, despite undergoing treatment for cancer, though it is reported that he may use a carriage rather than ride, which he did last year,' Fitzwilliams said.
