King Charles and Queen Camilla have made a surprise appearance in matching macs at Epsom races on the first day of the Epsom Derby festival, also known as Ladies' Day
King Charles and Queen Camilla made an unexpected visit to the Epsom races for a very touching reason. The Royal duo was spotted landing on the turf for the premier day of the Epsom Derby festival, better known as Ladies' Day, donned in identical raincoats, waving at the excited crowd before settling in their seats in the Royal enclosure.
Ralph Beckett, who trains Treasure, expressed: "I have been very pleased with her progress since her reappearance at Lingfield Park. The King and Queen are such enthusiastic owners and it is great to be training such a nice filly for them who is running in a Classic." John Warren, the Royal couple's racing and bloodstock adviser, reflected on their passion at Royal Ascot last year, saying: "The King understands the bigger picture. He is more than interested in racing. It is something he'd heard in osmosis all his life. What with the Queen's enthusiasm, racing is lucky to have two great advocates, people who are engaged in the sport we all love.
