Banknotes were replaced with those featuring His Majesty's face when the late Queen died
A £10 note with the King's face on it has sold for £17,000 after sparking a bidding war. According to the BBC , a number of banknotes with a face value of £78,430 raised more than 11 times that amount at a series of auctions.
The sales, run by London auctioneers Spink, raised some £914,127 in total for Childhood Trust, The Trussell Trust, Shout, Carers UK, Demelza, WWF-UK, The Brain Tumour Charity, London’s Air Ambulance Charity, Child Bereavement UK, and The Samaritans. The first new notes issued were presented to King Charles III himself, but hundreds of other low serial numbered notes went under the hammer.
