She was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum sentence of one year imprisonment or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, if convicted.However, lawyer A. Birantha, who represented the accused, requested a stay of execution, pending an appeal to the High Court. Deputy public prosecutor Yong Ching Hong did not object to the application and asked the court to impose bail of RM5,000 in one surety.
