Tributes have been paid to the 'kind' British doctor who was shot and killed on a holiday in South Africa last week after he took a wrong turn and ended up in the township of Nyanga, Cape Town.

Kar Hao worked at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Essex, as a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon. ‘He has worked in Scotland, England and Wales and has left fond memories with people in all corners of the country. He leaves a wife and a two-year-old son.Kar Hao’s death is one of five which have taken place during a week of violent protests which have erupted throughout Cape Town.against a recent crackdown on crimes such as driving without a licence or registration plates.
