Derek McInnes reckons Killie can make up points in the league - but only get one chance at Euro history
Derek McInnes insists Scottish football is on the back burner as Kilmarnock are going all guns blazing into the club’s biggest clash in more than half a century.
“We want to prioritise Europe at the moment as we feel we can make up in the league. We obviously want to get points on board but we understand the magnitude of this game. The benefits of winning this tie are absolutely huge for a club like Kilmarnock. It is arguably our biggest game in 60 years. The financial rewards are a huge incentive as it’s money you just can’t make in Scotland.
McInnes – who has new recruit Jack Burroughs along for the ride – admitted Killie are huge underdogs against the Danish big guns who beat Manchester United and drew with Bayern Munich on the way to the Champions League last 16 last term. But he’s determined to survive the intimidating Parken Stadium and his his side a chance of progress back in Ayrshire next week.
