Rapper Killer Mike files a lawsuit against security companies hired for the 2023 Grammy Awards, alleging wrongful arrest and excessive use of force by security personnel.
Rapper Killer Mike is taking legal action against the private security firms hired for last year's Grammy Awards , claiming he was wrongfully arrested due to their overzealous employees. According to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Killer Mike alleges that on his way to the red carpet for photos and media interviews, he was stopped by security despite being a multiple award-winner and possessing the necessary credentials to access the restricted area.
Killer Mike accuses the two security companies involved, S&S Labor Force Inc. and JRM Private Security, of granting their personnel excessive authority, which ultimately resulted in his unlawful citizen's arrest. The rapper asserts that security personnel physically assaulted and restrained him, subjecting him to emotional distress and public humiliation in front of onlookers. He further states that the citizen's arrest was unlawful because security personnel falsely detained him, leading to his subsequent arrest by police and hours of confinement in a nearby jail. This incident caused him to miss a crucial opportunity to present a Grammy award to a vast television audience. As previously reported, Killer Mike was eventually released from police custody after the award show. A few months later, he claims that the entire ordeal caused him unnecessary public embarrassment, distress, and professional harm. In response, Killer Mike is suing the security companies for damages.
