The killer of a Blackpool barman who died two weeks after his daughter was born will be sentenced this month.
George, who worked at Revolution in Blackpool, never regained consciousness and died in hospital on November 22 having met his newborn daughter two weeks earlier. After Clara was born, George's mum Melissa said: "Looking back now, I’m not sure how we all got through it, the range of emotions we had to go through was horrendous.
Jones will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on July 26. A pre-inquest review into George's death is due to be held at Blackpool Coroner's Court on Friday July 12. Coroners' guidance states that inquests do not normally resume if they would likely duplicate what has been heard during criminal proceedings. Additionally, an inquest cannot reach a conclusion other than what was determined by the court, in that George was unlawfully killed.
