A Killbuck man was killed in a Holmes County crash early Wednesday morning after he passed a tour bus in a marked no passing zone, lost control, and hit a truck in the opposite direction, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
SALT CREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A Killbuck man was killed in a Holmes County crash early Wednesday morning after he passed a tour bus in a marked no passing zone, lost control, and hit a truck in the opposite direction, the Holmes County Sheriff ’s Office confirmed.
The crash happened at approximately 4:44 a.m. on OH-241 south of County Road 235 in Salt Creek Township, HCSO reported. HCSO said 44-year-old Ronald E. Pappa of Killbuck behind the wheel of a 2000 Ford Excursion heading north on SR-241. But as Pappa drove back into his lane of travel, he lost control of the Ford, went left of center, and struck a 2007 Ram pickup truck that was heading southbound, HCSO stated.
While Pappa was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, East Holmes EMS took him to Pomerene Hospital where he was later pronounced dead in the emergency room, HCSO confirmed. HCSO said the 30-year-old Apple Creek man behind the wheel of the Ram was also wearing his seatbelt but reportedly did not suffer any injuries.
