The play area has swings, a roundabout and a climbing frame, none of which have ever been used.
Play equipment was installed by housing giant Persimmon as part of the Scholars Green development but has been sealed off for the past four years.
Mr Addison, who works as a pilot on deep sea submersible vessels, also fears youngsters could force open the steel cover and suffer an injury. Councillor Iain McMillan, who represents the area, claims Persimmon have ignored his letters outlining concerns raised by constituents. Work began on Scholars Green around six years ago and the last houses were completed shortly before the Covid pandemic struck.Councillor McMillan added: “I recently wrote to Persimmon Homes to find out what is happening but I have received no reply.”construction manager for Persimmon, said he hopes the play park will be in use in the near future.
