Ms Rosin said she had considered changing centres but found there was an 18-month to two-year wait at most centres in the region.A spokesperson for one of the Sunshine Coast's biggest childcare providers said unforeseen circumstances such as staff illness occasionally resulted in the difficult decision to ask parents to keep children at home for a day.
"The services are ratio based — for example in our under-two room, we have one adult for four children. "They [educators] do an absolutely amazing job and they definitely deserve a higher rate of pay," Ms Fitzsimmons said."A second conversation is about the benefits of working in early childhood and how it's such an important job, impacting a child's life not just for the time that we're there with them, but for the whole time that that child is alive.
"I think there needs to be a really big campaign about early years and how important it is," she said.
