Court records reveal Juan Carlos Argueta-Guerra arrested six times with no deportation record found

The man accused of abducting them remains in Metro Jail, but he is not talking. Court records reveal Juan Carlos Argueta-Guerra has been arrested six times but there is no record of him ever being deported.

Argueta-Guerra is from El Salvador. Court records from Texas show a pattern of arrests between 2015 and 2021. The charges include weapons possession, resisting arrest, and then a 2022 DUI out of Jackson County, Mississippi. Immigration holds were placed on him twice. But each time, he was released. FOX10 found no record he was ever deported. The station reached out to ICE for an explanation. They have not responded. Jessica Vaughan is the director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies. She believes he may have been classified as low priority for deportation. She further explained his crimes may not have been serious enough under current regulations to be sent back to El Salvador. “Restrictions on ICE under Biden were even tighter than under the Obama administration. They were restricting ICE to the most narrowed definition of serious offenders. The most worst of the worst were the only ones ICE was allowed to go after,” Vaughan said.Meanwhile, the search for Aurelia Choc-Cac, and her two children Niurka and Anthony continues. Family friends said Niurka turned 18 this past Sunday. Anthony is two.Argueta-Guerra is expected to be back in court early March. He was charged with three counts of kidnapping and an ICE hold.Downtown Mobile shooting incidents leave 8 injured, 1 dead ‘What planet did you come from to act like this:’ Judge scolds alleged victim and defendant over social media videosUPDATE: Suspect in officer-involved shooting dies, police say
