You could say that the Kia EV6 isn’t anything special. In entry-level Wind trim, it’s a not-that-cheap single-motor, rear-drive, mainstream EV with just 225 hp aboard shoving more than 4200 pounds. It’s competent. It’s sensible. But apart from its elegant design, the EV6 mostly meets expectations, and not much more. Like a 21st-century Pontiac Tempest.
56:1 in the GT model.“The car doesn’t shut you down when yaw occurs,” noted staff writer Brian Silvestro. “Instead, it sends power to the rear for satisfying rotation through corners.” There’s not enough communication between the tires and driver, but Kia’s tire choice was conservative. Imagine how much performance could be unlocked with a set of Michelin Pilot Sports. It would surely improve the EV6 GT’s modest 0.88-g skidpad orbit.
