Longtime KHOU 11 anchor Lauren Talarico leaving channel
After more than nine years working at KHOU 11, anchor Lauren Talarico during a Sunday broadcast announced she is leaving the station.
The longtime anchor decided to move with her family in order to be closer to her extended family in New York. To bid her farewell, her coworker Kim Castro put together a video displaying some of Castro's favorite moments of she and Talarico together. A custom KHOU 11 cake and a present sat at the anchor table as Talarcio delivered a tearful goodbye."It really was not an easy choice because I love KHOU, I love the people here, I love what I do, I love greater Houston," Talarcio said.
At the end of the segment, Castro presented Talarico with a gift bag full of Buccee's products so she could take a piece of Texas with her. Talarcio came to Houston eight years after graduating from the University of Tennessee with honors in journalism and electronic media. She is an AP award winner and has been nominated for an Emmy.
