JB Nelson has appeared in 31 games over three years at Penn State.
. It will be his fourth season at Penn State and sixth in college football overall after transferring from Lackawanna Community College.and the coaching staff have long viewed Nelson as a starter-type player at guard and tackle on both sides. He started eight games in 2023 before sustaining an injury and losing the job to Vega Ioane, though Nelson still appeared in 11 games on the season. He didn’t start at all in 2024 but appeared in all 16 games.
There will be competition at all five starting spots after the emergence of talented freshman Cooper Cousins and right tackle Nolan Rucci. That pairs well with the returns of star running backs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, who both hit their stride at the end of the season and had the Penn State run game firing on all cylinders.also announced his return to Penn State, while special teams coach Justin Lustig collectively announced all four of his starting specialists would be back.
