Derek McInnes revealed a hamstring injury in the warm-up prevented him from throwing Kevin van Veen on against Aberdeen.
Killie produced a disappointing display against the Dons and could have no complaints with the outcome. In front of a big travelling support, they were deservedly beaten, despite Danny Armstrong’s goal before half-time that got them back in the tie. McInnes tried everything from the bench to salvage it but couldn’t use his big January signing, Van Veen.
“We also really missed Matty Kennedy, there’s no doubt about that. We lacked a bit of width. It’s hard to be critical of the players, you saw the support we had up here today.
