Kevin Smith, the acclaimed filmmaker, is developing a new mystery comedy series for NBC called Local Heroes. The show will follow a group of comic book store regulars solving local mysteries.
Kevin Smith , known for his prolific career in film, is venturing into television with a new project titled Local Heroes . The mystery comedy series, currently in development at Universal Television, centers around a group of regular customers at a comic book store who team up to unravel local mysteries.
Inspired by Smith's own comic book store, Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank, New Jersey, the series aims to capture the spirit of community and quirky investigations seen in popular shows like Only Murders in the Building and Poker Face. Smith, who originally purchased the store with profits from Clerks, has frequently used it as a backdrop for his films, including Chasing Amy and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The comic book store also served as the inspiration for the AMC reality series Comic Book Men. This foray into television follows Smith's recent success with the animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation for Netflix.
