The 72-year-old feels there is little crossover between the men’s and women’s games Former England manager Kevin Keegan has courted controversy after saying he does not like listening to ‘lady footballers’ talking about their male counterparts. The 72-year-old was speaking at An Evening With Kevin Keegan OBE in Bristol last Friday when he made the questionable comments – though he was largely full of praise for the women’s game and its development in recent years.
‘It is a great time for the ladies’ game,’ he said. ‘When I was England manager I went to coach the England ladies and I had this perception of what the quality would be like and they were so much better than I thought they were going to be. ‘I joined in and then I thought, “I’m getting out of this!” I couldn’t get the bloody ball and one of them nutmegged me, that finished me off.
