A one-of-a-kind Harley-Davidson owned from new by Kevin Keegan will be sold at auction next month, with proceeds donated to Cancer Research following the football legend's recent devastating stage-four diagnosis.
The unique American motorcycle is a 1990 Sportster painted in the black-and-white stripes of Keegan's beloved Newcastle United Football Club. It was purchased by 'King Kev' shortly before his time as manager at the club, with his reign spanning from 1992 to 1997, as he steered the Magpies to their most successful period in modern history. It will be offered to the highest bidder with no reserve at the National Motorcycle Museum on Wednesday, 22 July.
Ian Cunningham, senior motorcycle specialist at H&H Classics, said: 'This Kevin Keegan-owned Harley-Davidson Sportster is a fantastic collector's item and we're honoured to be auctioning it.
' Keegan, 75, recently announced his stage-four stomach cancer diagnosis and, during a special one-man show this week where he talked about his life, said he wants to say goodbye to Newcastle United properly. This 1990 Harley-Davidson was bought new by football legend Kevin Keegan in 1990 and painted in his beloved Newcastle United's black and white to celebrate his playing career.
The 1990 motorbike was purchased by Kevin from a Harley-Davidson dealership in Newcastle and then refinished in a bespoke livery to celebrate his time as a player with the Magpies. The paint job is something very special, featuring the famed black-and-white stripes of the north-east football club. On one side of the fuel tank is the club's historic emblem, while the other features the Newcastle Brown Ale logo - the team's primary kit sponsor between 1990 and 2000.
The rear fender also has a hand-painted magpie mascot. Shortly after the paintwork was completed, the Harley was put on display at the Newcastle Breweries Museum, situated opposite St James' Park, providing a fitting location to showcase this unique fusion of motorcycling and local football pride.
After Keegan's spell as Newcastle United manager - having secured the club's promotion to the top flight in 1992 and narrowly missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester United in the incredible 1995-96 season - the motorcycle was installed on a purpose-built plinth in Kevin's office at home. Keegan went on to manage Fulham and Manchester City at club level, and also took the reins of the England international team for 18 matches between February 1999 and October 2000, posting a record of seven wins, seven draws and four losses.
His only major tournament was Euro 2000, where England were knocked out in the group stage. He was the last England manager to lead a side out at the old Wembley Stadium. He briefly returned to be Newcastle manager between January and September 2008. Shortly after the paintwork was completed, the Harley was put on display at the Newcastle Breweries Museum, situated opposite St James' Park.

The motorcycle has been subtly modified with many custom parts, including drag bars, billet levers and switchgear, a single saddle finished in white leather, and a shortened rear mudguard.
It was recommissioned at the start of the year by Moto Restoration, including new tyres, to prepare it for sale. The odometer shows just 14 miles on the clock, resulting from its 36-year life on display. A selection of signed photographs showing the former England international astride the motorcycle at his beloved St James' Park are also part of the auction lot. The paint job even includes the Newcastle United Football Club's famous Magpie mascot on the rear fender.
Keegan's had two spells as manager at Newcastle United, between 1992 and 1997 before returning for a nine-month spell in 2008
