Kevin Keegan , the former England and Newcastle United manager, made a sprightly appearance at the Tyne Theatre after being diagnosed with stomach cancer in January.

He joined presenter Pete Graves to promote their upcoming show, where he joked 'I'm still alive!

' and expressed his gratitude towards the medical team for their intervention. Keegan, 75, looked stylish in a black shirt, grey suit, and shoes, and exclaimed 'I'm still alive, thank you!

' when asked about his health. He discussed his upcoming appearance in Newcastle, stating 'It's not my second home, it's my first home, really. My dad was from up there and I was twice at the club and really enjoyed it.

' Keegan made his name at Liverpool in a glittering playing career, winning 63 England caps and managing Fulham and Manchester City. He guided Newcastle to the Premier League during his first stint at St James' Park and came close to lifting the title. A family statement in January revealed that Keegan was diagnosed with cancer after being admitted to hospital for further evaluation of ongoing abdominal symptoms.

The medical team has been providing him with ongoing care, and the family is requesting privacy during this difficult time. Newcastle, Liverpool, and Manchester City have released statements of support, wishing Keegan a full and speedy recovery. Keegan's playing career spanned 323 appearances for Liverpool, where he won the European Cup in 1977. He also had two spells as manager of Newcastle, where he is a highly popular figure.

After starting his career at Scunthorpe, Keegan headed to Anfield, winning the First Division three times, the European Cup once, and the UEFA Cup twice. He enjoyed a stint in Germany with Hamburg before spells at Southampton and Newcastle. In 1999, Keegan succeeded Glenn Hoddle as England boss but resigned in 2000 following a disappointing European Championship and a loss to Germany in the final match at the old Wembley
