The NBA Hall of Famer is expected to join the Timberwolves front office after ownership change.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to undergo significant changes as soon as the new ownership takes over.More news: Spurs HC Gregg Popovich Won't Return This Season, Future UncertainCurrent majority owner Glen Taylor will no longer be that as arbitrators ruled Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez over Taylor as the next majority ownership group of the Timberwolves.
With this new ownership that is set to take place, some massive changes will come.According to longtime local insider Charley Walters , one of the new changes that will take place is that Wolves legend Kevin Garnett will be hired to work in the Wolves' front office immediately upon Lore's majority ownership being made official.'A little birdie says Kevin Garnett will become part of the Timberwolves' front office as soon as it's official that Lore and Rodriguez get ownership.'The Hall of Fame forward spent the first 12 years of his career in Minnesota and established himself as one of the best players in the league.'The Big Ticket' was a tremendous player in Twin City. In his tenure there, he averaged 19.8 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game, leading the Timberwolves to eight consecutive playoff appearances .In 2004, Garnett won the NBA MVP after averaging 24.2 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. He led the Timberwolves to the franchise's first Western Conference finals appearance at the time. This is huge news for Garnett and the Minnesota fans, as things between him and Taylor were not the best. There has been an ongoing beef between the two, as Taylor has refused any and all requests to put the No. 21 jersey up in the rafters.Once Taylor makes his way out the door, expect this new ownership to put up No. 21 right where it belongs. While Lore and Rodriguez are set to take over ownership soon, it is unclear when that will happen. In 2021, Rodriguez and Lore agreed to purchase the Timberwolves and Lynx from Taylor for $1.5 billion. They initially had a 20 percent stake and then had future options that would have given them full control of the teams in subsequent years. The Timberwolves have not had the best season following their second-ever Western Conference finals appearance in 2024. They currently sit with a 31-26 record, which is good for the seventh seed in the West.More news: Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore Secure Majority Ownership of TimberwolvesNBA Star Anthony Edwards Wants Front Row Tickets to Lakers-Mavericks GameFor more NBA news and rumors, stay tuned to Newsweek Sports.
