Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, who would be the first Black woman on the U.S. Supreme Court, will face senators on Monday. Here’s a look at her career.

Jackson, a 51-year-old who has served as a federal judge for the past nine years, will go before the Senate Judiciary Committee, beginning at 11 a.m. ET. She is expected to present an opening statement Monday afternoon and then answer questions from the committee's 11 Democrats and 11 Republicans over the next two days.

"Today I proudly stand on Judge Motley's shoulders, sharing not only her birthday but also her steadfast and courageous commitment to equal justice under law," Jackson said on Feb. 25 after being officially introduced as Biden's chosen nominee. It was unclear how aggressively Republicans would go after Jackson during the hearings, given that her confirmation would not alter the court's 6-3 conservative majority.
