According to reports, the scammer went to great lengths to instill a sense of urgency and fear in the recipient of the call, instructing them to purchase a $500 gift card from a retail store and provide the activation code as a means to evade criminal charges. Law enforcement officials swiftly launched an investigation into this reprehensible offense. However, it is imperative to underscore a critical point: legitimate law enforcement agencies, including the Kerrville Police Department, do not conduct business in this manner. No officer of the law would solicit payments or personal information over the phone, especially not in the form of gift cards.
