Another battery storage project draws ire of Hill Country residents The rainfall pushed the Guadalupe River’s water level to a peak of 9.32 feet at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to data from the U.S. Geological Survey. That’s just above the flood stage of 9 feet. The river level had a secondary peak at 8.75 feet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Why does the Balcones Escarpment matter? It’s ‘where the West begins.’ Stuart Barron, Kerrville’s executive director of public works and engineering, said the city shut off its water treatment plant due to a high concentration of mud flowing into the facility. Barron called the flood a “five- to eight-year event,” but said it didn’t cause significant damage. Tuesday was trash pickup day in Kerrville, so some residents had their trash bins washed away, he said.
