Gavin Wimsatt, a quarterback who played for Kentucky, is moving on to Jacksonville State for his final year of college football.
Kentucky quarterback Gavin Wimsatt will transfer to Jacksonville State for his final year of eligibility. Wimsatt served as a backup at Kentucky behind starter Brock Vandagriff, playing in eight games for the Wildcats this season. He completed 16 of his 39 passes for 287 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions while running the ball 49 times for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Wimsatt’s most productive season came in 2023, where he started all 13 games for Rutgers.
He threw for 1,735 yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions while posting a 47.8% completion percentage; he also ran for 497 yards and 11 touchdowns. Out of high school, Wimsatt was a 4-star prospect and was graded as the No. 25 quarterback prospect in the nation for the class of 2021. He also held offers from Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Oregon, Michigan and Notre Dame after his career at Owensboro High
