Kent police officers recovered a stolen vehicle and prevented a driver from fleeing on Friday.
Kent police officers recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested a man wanted on multiple warrants on Aug. 16, 2024.
He responded and located a Toyota Rav4 running with the doors locked. According to KPD, the 38-year-old driver from Tukwila had a towel over his head. The VIN was in plain view and when it was run by dispatch it was revealed that the vehicle had been stolen out of Seattle. The officer noticed multiple pieces of burnt foil on the dash, which they said was an indication of recent drug use.
Officers used their PA system to wake up the driver, but he did not cooperate with the officer's commands. He attempted to accelerate forward and hit the officer’s patrol vehicle.
