A 39-year-old man was arrested and jailed for the attempted kidnapping and domestic assault of his wife last week in Kent.

A Kent officer arrived quickly and contacted the victim, a 36-year-old woman, and multiple bystanders, according to police. Police said while the victim was being treated by Puget Sound Fire, an officer learned the woman had been in a fight with her 39-year-old husband. She left their home to avoid being further assaulted and stayed in a hotel for the night, police said.
Police said bystanders in the parking lot yelled at the 39-year-old man and moved near the woman to prevent him from taking her. Kent police said the business provided evidence of the crime, which confirmed the woman's details of the assault and attempted kidnapping. Two more Kent officers then arrived to assist, and the man was detained without further incident, police said. He then described the incident, which did not match his wife's story or the aforementioned surveillance video, according to police.
