Kensington's two new Thunderbolt 5 docks are for Windows and Mac users deliver connection speeds of 80Gbps. They also have 140W Power Delivery, triple 4K monitor support.

Anyone who runs external displays with their Mac or Windows laptop will want to take a closer look at two new innovative Thunderbolt 5 dokcing staitons from Kensington.USB and Thunderbolt docks are two-a-penny these days and many share very similar features.

So, when a new docking station comes along that offers genuine innovation, I want to take a closer look. The new plug-and-playThunderbolt 5 Docking Stations have arrived and they appear to offer more features that could push the rest of the market to innovate more. The two new feature-rich Thunderbolt 5 Docking Stations are for Windows and Mac users with each delivering connection speeds of up to 80Gbps. They also have 140W Power Delivery, triple 4K monitor support, a built-in M.2 SSD storage bay, plus the ability to customize a couple of hotkeys to give productivity a handy boost. Both the new Kensington Thunderbolt 5 Docking Stations have a 19-in-1 design with rapid media access, potential expansion, fast connectivity and high-power charging for MacBook M-Series Pro/Max models and high-performance Windows workstations or gaming laptops. The Kensington Thunderbolt 5 docks have 19 ports including USB A, USB C, Thunderbolt 5, memory card slots and so many audio options.Delivering connection speeds up to 80Gbps — or 120Gbps when using Bandwidth Boost — the docks can deliver up to 140W dynamic power delivery, drive up to three 4K monitors, plus they include a slot for fitting your own M.2 NVMe SSD for extra secure storage. Two customizable hotkeys can be programmed to provide one-button access to productivity-enhancing applications and commands.Incorporating the latest Thunderbolt 5 technology, these docks can achieve connection speeds up to 80Gbps when used with a host computer that also has Thunderbolt 5 ports, which is handy for video-intensive applications and other data heavy situations. At the rear of the Kensington Thunderbolt 5 docks are more USB port, Thunderbolt ports, Ethernet 2.5Gbps, more audio ports and even an optical TOSLINK port. The EQ Pro Thunderbolt 5 docks have a 19-in-1 design that includes four Thunderbolt 5 ports and multiple USB options. In addition to supporting up to three external 4K monitors, the docks have an empty M.2 SSD slot. It works well but just stick to well known brands of SSD like Lexar or Samsung. The docks also have and there are slots for Compact Flash, SD and Micro SD memory cards. I think this is the first dock I’ve seen with a CF slot. A CFexpress dock might have been a better choice. There are two customizable hotkeys on the top of the docks which can be programmed with one-button commands for accessing applications. As well as having three Thunderbolt 5 downstream ports and one Thunderbolt upstream port, the two docks also have four USB-A 3.2 Gen2 10Gbps ports, two USB-C Gen2 10Gbps ports, three memory card slots for CF/SD/Micro SD 4.0, four audio ports including optical TOSLINK, a secure PCIe M.2 SSD slot, plus high-speed 2.5Gbps Ethernet for networking. These days, it’s not unusual to see people using more than one external monitor with their laptop. One screen might be used for emails, while another could be for spreadsheets, with a third running a creative software package. With these new docks, up to three high-resolution monitors can be run as well as the laptop’s or desktop’s own display. The new docking stations from Kensington also have space for an SSD which can expand the host computer's storage options. The PC version of the Kensington dock can support for up to three 4K monitors with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. Alternatively, two 8K monitors at 60Hz can be run by Windows laptops. The Mac version supports up to two 6K monitors at 60Hz with MacBook models using Apple’s M-Series Pro and Max chipsets. With 140W Dynamic Power Delivery, both docks can power to a laptop with a single Thunderbolt 5 cable, which also carries data, video, audio and any other signals over the 80Gbps bandwidth of Thunderbolt 5. KonstantCharge is a feature on these docks that enables any connected devices to charge even when the laptop is undocked.Using the free Kensington Konnect software, two customizable buttons on the dock can be programmed to provide Windows users with quick access to applications and commands that can optimize and enhance productivity. MacOS users can configure the buttons to do things like back up iPhone photos and videos, activate Focus Mode or initiate other workflow-enhancing functions. As you might expect, the new Kensington Thunderbolt 5 docks come with a choice of security slots to ensure the dock stays put. When used with the optional Kensington mounting bracket, both docks can be mounted out of the way to increase the amount of available desk space, plus they each have security cable lock slots compatible with Kensington cable locks which can protect the docks from being “borrowed.” The Windows version of the new dock includes free Kensington DockWorks software, which provides Windows users with the connectivity, performance and security features. Both docks come with a three-year limited warranty and the outer cases are made with a minimum of 85% post-consumer recycled aluminum. Everything is delivered in FSC-certified packaging.CF card slot, SD Cards and Micro SD card slots Audio: 1 x 3.5mm Combo microphone and headphone port , 1 x 3.5mm microphone port , 1 x 3.5mm headphone port , 1 x TOSLINK audio port . Data transfer speeds: Up to 80Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth, with Bandwidth Boost enabling up to 120Gbps for video-intensive usage.Maximum resolution: Triple 4K @ 144Hz, Dual 8K @ 60Hz, Dual 6K @ 60Hz.
