The city expects to open both northbound lanes, and maintain one southbound lane by the morning rush hour Wednesday.

Jersey City OEM and Fire Department respond to a construction site at Kennedy Boulevard near Route 139 after the partial collapse of a retaining wall on Feb. 6, 2023. A portion of Kennedy Boulevard in Journal Square is expected to reopen Tuesday evening more than 24 hours after it was forced closed by the collapse of a retaining wall, Jersey City officials said.

Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said road crews are setting up barricades and other related traffic equipment to open one lane in both directions between Route 139 and St. Pauls Avenue to ease rush hour traffic.
