Fossil Hill Middle School will have classes in a vacated building while construction continues on its damaged roof.
Fossil Hill Middle School hasn’t reopened since Thanksgiving break when a re-roofing project created debris that damaged the interior of the school, according to reports.
Classes were expected to resume Thursday, but families were notified the day before that wouldn’t be the case, according to the district. An assessment of the facility deemed additional repairs were necessary so classes will resume Dec. 11 at the temporary location that’s still located within the district.
“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are grateful to have this nearby facility available to ensure minimal disruption to student learning,” a school district spokesperson said in an email Thursday.Parents of students involved in athletics, fine arts or other extracurricular activities were asked to watch for additional communication from program directors and coaches about competitions or performances.
