The new track comes ahead of Urban’s forthcoming studio album, due out later this year.
On it, he takes a trip back to the good old days, a time spent in vintage threads, having benders with his gal on a Saturday night, not a digital camera in sight. As it turns out, Urban has a photographic memory. “We've come a long way since we was drinkers in the basement/ At a party we hated, tryna make conversation/ The night it was taken, I didn't have a clue/That someday I'd be something more than just a boy in a Polaroid with you,” he sings.
“Polaroid” is a rollicking guitar-driven pop number, which is brought to life by Dano Serny’s eye-catching music video, due out Friday. “I really connected with the song,” says Urban in a statement accompanying the new number. “I used to have this house that I lived in with a few guys in my band and at some point, someone gave us this Polaroid camera. We used it to take pictures of everybody and everything – crazy stuff that happened. We had all of these different pictures posted on a big board and I so clearly saw that the minute I heard the song.
“Polaroid” follows “God Whispered Your Name,” which dropped earlier this year. Both tracks will appear on his forthcoming studio album, the follow-up to his 2018 set
