The hack could keep your flowers for up to two weeks and you only need bleach and water.
Buying flowers can often feel like a waste of money when they die within a week, but there's actually a handy trick using a cleaning product that keeps blooms fresher for longer.
All you need is bleach with shoppers being able to pick up this common household item from the likes of Iceland, Sainsbury's and Tesco for as little as 65p - if you don't own some already. She added: "I know they last longer because I do it all the time". They explained that it is because the bleach kills all the bacteria at the bottom of the water and in the flowers.
They explain: "How much bleach you add to your water to preserve the flower’s freshness depends primarily on the size of your container. Some florist’s recipes suggest you add 1/4 teaspoon of bleach per quart of water; others suggest mixing three drops of bleach with one teaspoon of sugar per quart of water."
