Kaylee Gain, the Missouri teen who was severely beaten in a fight last month, is still facing "significant" cognitive impairment, according to an update from her parents Monday.a brawl between 15-year-old Gain and another girl on a neighborhood street, went viral in March. Gain can be seen convulsing on the ground after having her head smashed against the pavement by the other girl.
“Although Kaylee appears to realize she is in the hospital, she does not understand why she is there,” the family said Monday.Members of Gain’s family also say they recently attended a hearing for the alleged attacker. While they say they cannot share details due to the confidentiality of the proceedings, family members called it “encouraging" that "the accused appears remorseful for what transpired.” The family remains adamant the young alleged assailant be tried as an adult.
Family members also acknowledged the existence of a social media page posing as the alleged assailant. Though the “distasteful” messages posted there about attacking Gains were fake, the family feels “there is more than sufficient evidence” remaining in the case."I just feel for my daughter," the alleged attacker’s mother told the outlet. "She's not a troublemaker, she's not a bully."Jackson Walker on X at @_jlwalker_ for the latest trending national news.
