Kayce in Marshals
The new batch of images from Marshals reveals Kayce's perfect Dutton family replacement, as Monica's whereabouts remain unclear. In about a month, Taylor Sheridan will be bringing the famed Yellowstone franchise to network TV with its very first sequel spinoff.
Led by Luke Grimes, Marshals follows Kayce in his new life after the events of the flagship. As part of CBS's 2025-2026 programming, Marshals is one of the several Yellowstone spinoffs that are set to debut in the next several months. That said, it's the only one that will continue to take place on the famed Dutton ranch that was previously given back to the people of the Broken Rock Reservation. Despite that, don't expect Marshals to be patterned after Yellowstone, as it takes on a more procedural storytelling approach. With Marshals March 1, 2026 debut slowly creeping in, CBS has released a string of new images from the first couple episodes of the show. In"Piya Wiconi," Mo, Thomas Rainwater, and Kayce are seen to be reuniting. In the same outing, John III's son is seen riding his horse with Logan Marshall-Green's Pete Calvin, an old friend from his time in the military. Finally, the lone image from the episode titled"Zone of Death" sees Kayce's new allies: Tatanka Means' Miles, Ash Santos' Andrea, Arielle Kebbel's Belle, and Calvin. Check out the photos below: Interestingly, Marshals maintain secrecy about Monica's whereabouts. Previous promotional materials for the Yellowstone sequel had confirmed that Brecken Merrill is appearing as Tate Dutton, despite the aforementioned images not featuring him. Considering that the new CBS show is technically still set in the same setting as the flagship series, Monica's continued absence becomes more intriguing. Neither Taylor Sheridan nor anyone else involved in the series has commented about the matter. Since Marshals' story is a departure from the family-centric storytelling that Yellowstone had, Kayce's new team effectively becomes his perfect replacement for the Duttons, meaning they are expected to be his allies through everything. Understandably, Grimes is the main hook of the show, because his character had long been established as part of the flagship series. However, it won't be surprising if Sheridan eventually fleshes out the rest of his new team. The release of new images comes after Marshals quietly changed its title, dropping the"Y" branding from it. CBS maintained that it was simply an effort to streamline things and didn't have anything to do with changing course for the show's story. In any case, having Kayce at the center of its narrative will always be a reminder of its ties to the Yellowstone franchise.
