eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda has acknowledged that unemployment has impacted the city's revenue collection ECR_Newswatch eThekwini
He says there's an equal distribution of municipal services and resources even though many people aren't able to pay for them.
"Since people are unemployed in bigger numbers we are only collecting from 40% of residents. 60%, they are unable to pay for services, they are unable to pay for water, electricity, refuse collection, all these services that municipality is expected to render." The mayor spoke during public consultations of the municipality's 2023/24 draft budget in Austerville on Thursday."We need to devise a way of increasing revenue so that revenue will be shared among all citizens of eThekwini and make this city work," Kaunda said.
