This year will mark the inaugural Katy, Texas Juneteenth Parade & Festival, where organizers will celebrate the history of African Americans in Katy — a story they believe has gone untold.

The celebration, which will feature a parade and festival, will be on June 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at. The parade will begin at the corner of Pin Oak and Rogers and will travel west through the Danover community into Woodsland Park. It will have a variety of participants, including trail riders, Corvette clubs and local high school groups, according to the Katy Texas African American Heritage Society, which is hosting the event.
