Lance Carter has been a part of Katy ISD for the past 16 years, holding multiple positions throughout the district.
Eight years after making the jump from coaching to administration, Carter is making the jump once again.“It is a tremendous honor to serve Katy ISD, its coaches and athletes,” Carter said via Katy ISD. “I have had the pleasure to work under Coach Decker for the past 16 years in two different capacities. The lessons I have learned from her on leading the athletic department, for one of the best school districts in the State of Texas, have been invaluable.
Carter has over 30 years of education and coaching experience and previously served as assistant athletic director for the last eight years under Decker, who will retire from the executive athletic director position at the end of the school year. Carter arrived at Katy ISD in 2007 as head football coach and athletic coordinator at Mayde Creek before transitioning to a leadership role in 2014. Prior to Mayde Creek, he was head coach at Westside and made stops at Texas City and La Marque. He also coached powerlifting and holds degrees from Blinn College, East Texas State University and Lamar University.
